Citrus fruits and a year of extremes: rain and heat shape production
“In a year that had a very long period of rain at the beginning and scorching spring/summer, it becomes imperative to have a strategy to prevent damage caused by these conditions in citrus production”, explains Marcos.
These conditions favor problems with the skin, dehydration, and poor fruit size. Therefore, in this final phase of growth and maturation of the autumn and winter varieties, physiological and phytosanitary control becomes crucial.

Color change: protect the skin and reduce losses
As the fruits begin to change color, the risk of damage to the skin and losses associated with rain and humidity increases. “We must promote the development of resistances by the plant at this stage, reducing spots on the skin, damage to the peduncle, and the proliferation of fungi”, reinforces Marcos.
To do this, he recommends a strategy based on three complementary products:
- Baslact Plus – a plant fortifier made from whey, chitosan, and horsetail extract, rich in organic acids and enzymes, which activates the plant’s defenses and works synergistically with fungicides;
- Dalgin Active – seaweed extract (Ascophyllum nodosum), rich in iodine, containing macro- and micronutrients, and with a stimulating effect that strengthens the body’s defenses against fungi, bacteria, and viruses;
- Bludiamond Booster – a feed optimizer that improves treatment coverage, increases nutrient absorption, and reduces the risk of stress.
According to Marcos, “the joint application of these products helps to minimize losses due to weakening of the petiole and the epidermis, as well as significantly reduce the risk of fungal infections.”

Another factor to consider is to ensure balanced and efficient fertilization at the level of plant nutrition. “It is important to maintain the balance in the soil of nutrients appropriate to the development stage of the crop, ensuring that the plant has the necessary support to develop throughout its cultural cycle ”, emphasizes Marcos.
