Each crop is unique.
The strategy should be too.

of your operation.
Methodology
The demonstration was carried out in processing tomato, variety 1501, on a farm in Almeirim.
The objective was to evaluate the use of cover crop seeds RGT Fungi Redux in rotation with the crop of processing tomato, in order to promote increased productivity of tomatoes and reduce the presence of nematodes.
On September 23, 2023, the cover crop seeds were applied over an area of approximately 10 hectares, at a rate of 10kg/ha, a plot included in a total area of 19 hectares, with a drip irrigation system and a plant density/ha of 33,000.
The cover crop was cut and incorporated into the soil at the end of March 2024, about 15 days before the planting of the processing tomato.
Results and Discussion
On February 15, 2024, the cover crop was in full vegetative exuberance with the 3 varieties of RGT Fungi Redux sown, all well adapted to the soil and climate.
At the end of March, the cutting and incorporation into the soil was carried out. This incorporation occurred about 15 days before the sowing of industrial tomatoes.
Treated
Control
Results obtained.
In August, a sampling of plants was conducted to observe the roots and check for the possible presence of nematode galls.
In the plot treated with RGT Fungi Redux, no nodules were detected in the roots nor the presence of whiteflies. The vegetative aspect appeared healthier and greener.
In the control plot, without cover crop, the presence of nodules in the roots and a high presence of whiteflies was observed, in addition to the aerial part of the plant being clearly affected.
The treated plot thus reached 105 t/ha, compared to the 85 t/ha recorded in the control plot, approaching the highest yields obtained on average in the region (+23.5%).
Conclusion
The selection of cover crop seeds from RGT Fungi Redux showed adaptation to the edaphoclimatic conditions of the Santarém region and showed potential to increase the productivity of industrial tomatoes and improve the health of the crop.
In the demonstration, the treated plot showed 105 t/ha, compared to the 85 t/ha of the control plot, and in the sampling conducted in August no nodules were detected in the roots nor the presence of whiteflies.
The results reinforce the importance of using cover crops in intensive agriculture, with a positive impact on both the main culture and the soil.
